For a good while the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program had an entire SCUBA diving program. Located in Anaheim, California, USA on the campus of a high school, the program taught high school students and adults how to SCUBA dive all the way up to becoming a certified instructor (PADI). There was enough gear for 50 students to be in the water simultaneously. A man named Dave brought in enough science and aquatic marine life items to fill a U-Haul moving truck. It was well-organized and at one point in time was so popular 200 people at a time filled the high school classroom to take the classes.
Regrettably, the Instructor and staff were unique categories of assholes as well as being difficult to work with and deal with. As a result, any excitement one had to pursue advancement was desroyed at about the Advanced Open Water level for even those with the thickest skin, myself included. I cannot name one person whom I ever encounted that I knew of who became a Divemaster let alone Instructor thru this angry, angry man and his hostile, shitty Sidekicks-except Dave the Science Teacher. Ironically, we had every chart and calculation known to the United States Navy-we could calculate pressure, temperature, volume, weight, time, compass bearing, etc., but zero guide on how to deal with the angry, passive-aggressive, public employee instructors Scott Raisch and Victor and the tall asshole.
My documents are on this site and one other site. Regards, Adam Bein.
